Don't make excuses, make yourself better.
It's not 'just the way you are', it's the way you have chosen to be. We are not puppets, we have free will. Maybe some events or people in our lives make us see things a certain way but ultimately we choose how we impact the world and the people around us. We choose whether we take our shit out on people or not and we choose whether we are going to be kind or not etc. We are lucky that as human beings, we should (emphasis on the should as there's always an exception) be endowed with reason to know right from wrong. Classical Political philosophers, sociologists etc argue that it's what separates us from animals. For example, you could really irritate me but I'll make the decision not to give you a spinning-headbutt.
It's about self-control and also doing the right thing.
To be honest, in regards to the notion of reason making us human, I feel as though I've seen compassion far more in animals than in human beings. Towards me, in the wild and in general... so I agree with the philosophers to an extent (in that we can counteract our natural animalistic urges), but not entirely. However that's for another post which I probably won't write. I don't really know my demographic but I doubt a mini essay on classical political theories, philosophers and scientists would be up many people's street. Anyways, as per usual, I've digressed... Back to my original point!
(I like to go on tangents sometimes and I think it's nice to leave in a few so you can see how many different things link together in the world, and in life.)
To change involves a break in habits, awareness of your thought patterns and you learning to stop, cancel (revoke) and change any negative thought patterns and/or behaviours.
If it's external factors or an actual illness/ problem with how you/your brain functions, it's important try to seek help wherever you can. Work on healing instead of trying to cope and subsist as most of those methods aren't healthy. Besides, you shouldn't have to. You should be able to go through each day feeling like you're okay and happy. We shouldn't have to be sad, hurting and feeling like we're dead inside, but shit happens. What's important is how you deal with it.
In life as I say very often, it's all about perception. No two people have seen or will ever see the same thing and the same goes for your life. Maybe you want a massive change, and you keep looking for it, or something that you think will make things better. However, more often than not the thing that really needs to change is you, how you view the world and how you respond to it.
There's no way you can help or do the best for yourself if you don't feel good within yourself. There's no way you'll attract what you want/need in life if you are always being negative- you get what you give out. In addition, if you are not the best you for yourself you won't be the best you for others.
There's a mark you leave in every encounter, no matter how small it may seem to you. You should aim to leave people with happiness and upliftment whenever you can. Life is tough and it can be really shitty sometimes, so little moments where you can make someone see that life can be kind, fun or exciting can mean a lot. In the end, it's all about how you view things, so why not help someone look at it differently and get a better view? And you can do that just by being kind.
Every single person is so special and unique... We all have our own little gifts and light we bring to the world, but we often lose sight of it. We wonder away from our light, and move into darkness. But when you stay there for too long, you can end up forgetting all the light you have that you switched off, and it can feel like you are lost...
All you need to do is turn the light back on.
It's still there, it never leaves you or anyone you've ever shared it with even after you're gone. Remember the good inside of you, remember that you are not darkness, you are not your bad experiences and you are not your mistakes. But if you never move on from them, you turn yourself into all of those things. That's why it's important to grow, learn and move forward.
It takes time, and it may never even come in the way that you think it will, but it's worth a go. Let go of expectations, and make positive choices and decisions. That will cause your ideal life to fall into place... If you plan it, you could create it but in planning you restrict things because things could actually turn out better. Don't shoot for the stars, don't shoot for the moon, just go UP.
And do it with an open and willing heart, mind and spirit. You've got to really want to change... you've got to be realistic about it, and also not give up if you relapse.
Just keep trying, and trying, and trying (etc). If you keep trying you will inevitably succeed or land something better, for anything you truly put your heart and soul into will never be in vain. There's always lessons to be learned, and blessings to be enjoyed.
So keep at it. You've got nothing to lose. You can't lose something you've never had, but you can most certainly get what you've never had.
Think of how happy you'd be in your kind of utopian world, then seek to create it in your life. And try to leave a piece of that little bit of magic with whoever you meet.
There can be a fantastic world, and a great life, it's yours. Now open your jaded eyes and go create it and enjoy. It is possible.
Remenber life is full of little surprises and simple pleasures.
Take care of yourselves, and make sure you're eating, sleeping and drinking well and healthily.
Love, blessings and great vibes,
-Dalanda
