A 1983 interview with Mark Goodman, wherein David Bowie criticises MTV for not playing enough music videos by black artists.

Some argue it's because of his wife, but this was before Iman and he has always supported minorities. For example he let Luther Vandross play with him to give him some coverage and help boost his career- now he's a household name.

This shows his love, tolerance, support and respect for talent. His music is greatly influenced by soul, gospel and other types of music that tie in with black culture. I like that he's embraced the differences instead of despising them as many unfortunately do. At the end of the day, we are all one human race and differences shouldn't breed animosity. The divides are mental and we should break them down and love universally instead of oppressing, or judging one's worth based on things that they can't even control. As Bowie helped show though his art and music, we are stronger together, we can learn and grow from each other, and although there may be differences beyond our control some things are universal. Art, music, love and talent which he demonstrated are but a few of those.

I'm happy that he preached diversity, because minorities are often silenced and society tells us to trust, respect, and listen to just one group. It's a shame it wouldn't carry the same weight if a minority said it, because there had already been demonstrations for years and things didn't change much- only on paper.

Respect. I'm sure he's enjoying being rewarded for the good work he's done right now :-)

I hope you're having a lovely day everyone, put some music on and dance if you're feeling down.

Love,

-Dalanda
